TP fought for communist goodness: Achuthanandan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has once again come forward to ruffle the feathers of CPM party leadership by showering praise on the late RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan, who was once berated by the party as “renegade” (kulam kuthi).

The veteran CPM said T P was as a courageous leader who fought for real communist goodness and fought against Right wing opportunism. He said this in an interview to a TV channel four days ago, on the sidelines of the shooting of a documentary film on T P. The documentary produced by Malayalam Samskarika Vedi was being shot at Olkkatteri.
.
“T P who stood for true communism was horrifically butchered. Whoever has done that crime will be exposed and brought before society” he said.

Achuthanandan also urged the government to carry out a detailed investigation into the visit of alleged gold smuggler Faiz to the jail to meet TP murder case accused. “He got not only the permission of the police but also their help,” he added.

Achuthanandan’s revelations have come as a shocker for the CPM leadership as the quantum of punishment for the TP case accused will be pronounced on January 22. It has also happened at a time when party leaders are getting ready to attend the politburo meeting to be held on Jan 21 and 22.

From the beginning, CPM has held that the party has no role in the murder of T P Chandrasekharan. But in his condolence note, Achuthanandan had described TP as a courageous leader, upsetting the party. V S had also gone to meet TP’s wife K K Rema to express his grievance. Later it so happened that Achuthanandan was expelled from the politburo for making anti-CPM statements.
