THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has disapproved of BJP dissidents' organisation NaMo Vichar Manch joining the CPM.
At a press conference here on Friday, he alleged that NaMo Vichar Manch activists are Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s men. He said he couldn’t fathom for whose benefit was CPM trying to befriend Modi through his men.
“People should think whether a friendship with those who first sided with Modi and later shunned him is good or not. NaMo Vichar Mach workers are opportunists and thus not trustworthy,” he opined.
He recalled that the CPM had to pay a heavy price for its nexus with PDP; it had to be satisfied with four seats in the election.
When asked about CPM District secretary P Jayarajan’s statement that VS need not interfere in Kannur issues, Achuthanandan chose not to respond.
Referring to the T P Chandrasekharan muder case, Achuthanandan said the party would look into the court’s observations on murder convicts. He said he agreed with Party general secretary Prakash Karate’s opinion that “if any party activist is a convict in the case, he should not be in the party”.
Achuthanandan also voiced his support to RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan’s widow, who had asked for a CBI inquiry into the case. “I hope everybody will respect that poor widow’s request. She has said that CBI inquiry is necessary to bring out the real culprits behind the crime,” he added.
‘Budget will affect even kids’
Achuthanandan has said that the budget will impoverish even children. Price will rise and the construction sector will bear the brunt of the budget.
