THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI will contest in four seats in the imminent Lok Sabha election. The party will publish its list of candidates in the coming month.
Thiruvananthapurm, Mavelikkara, Wayanad, and Thrissur are the four seats that CPI had contested in the last Lok Sabha election. As of now, no decision is taken on whether the party should handover any one of the above seats to some other LDF ally. CPI had eyed Idukki seat. It had also asked for another prospectus seat in lieu of Wayanad seat.
Though the CPI had plans to exchange Thiruvananthapuram seat with CPM, now it has decided to field an independent candidate with LDF support.
Meanwhile, the CPI is yet to find a candidate to compete with Congress candidate Shashi Tharoor.
