Chandy requests to make changes on import duty of rubber

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that he has requested Union Minister Anand Sharma to make changes in the import duty of rubber in order to bring down the fall in the price of rubber.  Talking to the media, he said that he has also proposed to provide financial help for the procurement of rubber.

The farmers in the state are anxious in the fall. Still, the state will go forward in the procurement. The anxiety of farmers was brought to the notice of the union minister. The minister has taken a favorable stand on the demands of the state.

Chandy has also informed Union Minister Veerappa Moily on the anxiety in the Kasturirangan report.

Clearance has obtained for the spices park in Idukki and convention centre in Kochi. Land has to be acquired for it.

In reply to a question, he said talks will be held with allied parties on the selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. The high command has to take a final decision on the new KPCC chief and it will be announced soon, he said.
