Lulu mall: CPM rejects Ernakulam District Committee report

KOCHI: Ernakulam CPM District committee’s report, that industrialist M A Yusaffali built Lulu mall in Kochi on encroached land,  was rejected by the CPM State committee.

The State committee said Bolgatti convention centre was built as per norms and warned against any enmity towards industrialists including Yusaffali.

CPM State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan averred that Yusaffali had bought the land legally and criticised the District leadership of triggering unnecessary controversy over the deal. “Even the court has not pointed out any instances of land grabbing. Yusafali built the mall on the land he bought from the Corporation,” he aded

Ernakulam District committee had raised allegations against two industrial establishments  -  Bolghatty Convention centre and Lulu mall in Edappally. The issue was raised by M M Lawrence and District secretary Dinesh Mani. The committee's  finding was that there was irregularity in Lulu group’s Bolghatty deal, which "resulted in a heavy financial loss to Port Trust"
