NEW DELHI: Union minister Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar had consumed about 20 Alprax tablets (anti-depressant tablets to be sold on a doctor’s prescription) at the fateful night, leading to her death, some TV channels have reported, quoting the post-mortem report prepared by the doctors at the All India Institute Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The doctors therefore inferred that it could be case of suicide.
Referring to minor injuries found on Sundanda’s body, the doctors reportedly has said that Sunanda might have had a squabble with another person prior to her consuming the tablets. “Whether the medicine was taken voluntarily or not has to be investigated,” they said.
Two empty strips of Alprax were found from the hotel room where Pushkar had died.
On Saturday, the doctors had stated that it was a “case of sudden unnatural death”.
AIIMS doctors on Monday handed over Pushkar’s autopsy report to sub-divisional magistrate Alok Sharma.
