KOTTAYAM: A house boat carrying tourists has been gutted in a fire that broke out early Monday morning. The incident happened at a lake in the district. Big B, the boat was owned by Joemon, a native of Thathampalli.
A ten-member team from Andhra Pradesh was in the boat. A tragedy was averted after the boat employees shifted the tourists to the shore. One laptop and a mobile phone of the tourists have been gutted in the fire. A loss of Rs 80 lakhs has been reported. The boat had five rooms. A short circuit from the AC is said to be the cause of the fire.
