KOZHIKODE: The verdict in the sensational murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T P Chandrasekharan will be pronounced at Eranhippalam near here Thursday amid tight security.
Special Additional Sessions Judge R Narayana Pisharody, who completed the hearing in a record time, would deliver the judgment in the May 4, 2012 case.
Thirty six accused, out of 76 persons, against whom the charge sheet was filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), faced trial.
Two accused are still absconding and the trial against 15 persons was stayed by the Kerala High Court.
As many as 22 persons were released after the trial began, while one of the accused C H Ashokan, a CPI (M) leader, died during the trial.
A departmental action had been initiated against a police trainee for turning hostile during the trial that began on December 20, 2012.
Many other witnesses too turned hostile during the proceedings.
Some of the accused in remand are CPI (M) Kozhikode District Secretariat member P Mohanan, area committee members K K Krishnan and P K Kunhanandan and local committee members Padayamkandy Raveendran and K C Ramachandran.
The administration has clamped prohibitory orders in the city and politically sensitive localities in Vatakara, Nadapuram and in different places in the neighbouring Kannur and Mahe, which is part of Union Territory of Puducherry, from January 19 in order to prevent untoward incidents.
Rebel leader Chandrasekharan was waylaid and brutally murdered by Innova car-borne unidentified assailants at Vallikkod near Vatakara in the district while he was returning on home on his motor bike.
