THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The commonly seen practice of police trying to be judgmental in sexual abuse cases, on the basis of the female victims’ character and circumstances, should stop, National Commission for Women member Nirmala Samand Prabhavalkar has said.
Police should carry out investigations without losing any evidence in such cases. She was speaking at the seminar on ‘Empowerment of women police’ in the City on Saturday.
“Some policemen use obscene languages while questioning sexual abuse victims. They should use refined languages. The police most often fail to take the victims into confidence through the case. This situation should change and they could use technology to solve such cases,” she said
