Kannur airport: Pvt partnership cut to 16 pc

THIRUVANANTHPURAM: Minister K Babu has informed the Assembly that the government has restructured the shareholding pattern of Kannur airport. “Defence Minister A K Antony will inaugurate the stone-laying ceremony of the airport on February 2. The change to the shareholding pattern was effected after the Airport Authority of India mooted for the same,” said the minister.
      
The minister said: “The private share of 46 per cent has been reduced to 16 per cent and the government’s share has been increased from 26 to 35 per cent. The share of public sector will be 23 per cent and that of the Airport Authority of India will be 26 per cent. For the first phase of the construction of the airport, the estimated expense is Rs 1792 crore. The first flight from the Kannur airport will take off on December 31, 2015.
