Govt announces 50 lakh compensation to Niranjan’s family

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government Wednesday announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family of Lt Col Niranjan Kumar, who died while defusing a grenade after terrorists attacked an air force base in Pathankot. His wife Dr Radhika will be given a government job.

Briefing reporters after the weekly cabinet briefing, the chief minister said the government will meet the educational expenses of his daughter Vismaya. Niranjan’s name will be given to the Government ITI under Industrial training department. Niranjan is a pride to the county, said Chandy.

The Karnataka Government had offered a compensation of Rs 30 lakh to his family.
