Finance department a failure in regulating financial deficit: Aryadan

MALAPPURAM: Transport minister Aryadan Muhammed has said that State’s Finance department has been a failure in reducing the fiscal deficit and there is no point in putting the blame on the Centre for that fault. Addressing the media on Tuesday, he also criticised Finance Minister K M Mani, on this account.

“In 2010-11, the deficit was Rs 3000 crore, which rose to Rs 8000 crore in 2011-12. State expense often overshoots the budget specifications. The finance department should cut short the expenses and financial management should be done after taking into account the budget limitations,” the minister said.
