VS 'out' from CPM’s hunger strike

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan is ‘out’ from the hunger strike started by the CPM Wednesday aiming to unite party activists for the Lok Sabha polls. It has to be noticed that the party has not officially invited VS, who is not in good terms with the official faction.

Politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will inaugurate a striking centre at the housing board junction in the capital city. Senior most leader VS has not been invited to inaugurate any of the centres.

Only three programmes including one strike in front of the secretariat has been scheduled for the leader. It is not sure whether he will arrive in any centre unexpectedly. Sources close to him said that he has not been officially invited for any function.

The CPM started a hunger strike at 10 centres in the 140 assembly constituencies against the hike in LPG price. This is the beginning of the agitational programme ahead of the Parliament polls. VS supporters have expressed their dissatisfaction for not inviting the senior leader.
