MALAYINKEEZH: An auto driver taken into custody during vehicle inspection on suspicion of consuming liquor died here Tuesday. He has been identified as Sudheer Khan (40) of Vilappilsala. He was taken into custody by the Poojappura police last night at 9.30 pm. Tension mounts in Poojappura and General Hospital after his relatives and local residents allegedly grew suspicious on his death.
Sudheer, an auto driver of Vilappilsala was taken into custody from Thirumala by sub inspector Shanthappan and his team, who were on night duty at the Poojappura station. He was brought to the station and they later informed his relatives. He developed uneasiness at 1.30 am this morning and was taken to the General hospital but his life could not be saved.
His relatives alleged that he was harassed in the police jeep and at the station.Some injured marks were seen all over his body.
He leaves behind his wife Sajitha and children Safuvan, Ahamed and Waleed. His funeral will be held later as his father, who is in Saudi Arabia, has to reach the state.
