Middlemen, officials looting adivasis: Chennithala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala alleged on Friday that the money spent by the government for adivasis are being looted by middlemen and officials. In his new year Facebook post, he said lack of education was the reason for Adivasis missing even PSC notifications. This situation should change and for that they should get good education.

“It has been decided to absorb 200 Adivasi persons into the police force through special recruitments. In the first phase, 75 persons will be given postings this year itself. Maoists, are trying to exploit Adivasis’ poverty but they are not getting any support from the latter. This shows their trust in democracy and the government,” Chennithala said.

Chennithala spent his New Year day with Njaraneeli Tribal CBSE school students. He assured the school that Rs Two lakh will be allotted for the school from Adivasi scheme and required amount will be sanctioned from SC/ST fund for the renovation of school auditorium.

He said the government would sanction an amount for buying a new school van. Besides this, discussion would also be held on allotting land for school ground. Health Minister V S Sivakumar, K S Sabarinathan MLA and Congress leader Sharath Chandra Prasad also accompanied Chennithala.
