Corruption in Malabar Cements: Raid at MD’s office

PALAKKAD: A raid is being carried out in the office and house of managing director K Padma Kumar over with the corruption in the Malabar Cements. The raid which started at 9 am Thursday morning is still continuing. The vigilance had last month registered two cases following complaints that massive corruption had taken place in the dealings in Malabar Cements.   

The cases are in connection with the irregularities noticed in giving bank guarantee for the import of fly ash. The report of the quick verification has mentioned that irregularities worth Rs 2.7 crore has noticed in granting concessions in the dealings.

The high court had criticized the vigilance last month for not taking a case even after the allegation was proved right. Following this, Palakkad vigilance DySP Sukumaran registered the cases as per the directive of the vigilance director.

The raid at the office in Kanjikode is led by DySP Sukumaran and six circle inspectors.  Circle inspectors K M Praveen Kumar, K Vijaya Kumar, Sashidharan, Devender, Shajil Jose and C S Sunil Kumar.
