Airport to stain sanctity of Aranmula temple, says advocates panel

KOCHI: The report of the advocates panel, who conducted a study on the Aranmula airport, said the project will stain the sanctity of the temple. The report submitted in the Kerala High Court said the airport will be a threat to the future generation.

The airport will wound the emotions of devotees. The hills near the temple will have to be levelled for the airport. The hills which are to be conserved as part of belief, will badly affect the temple’s sanctity if levelled.  Filling the land for the airport will create severe environmental problems. This will lead to floods in the Pampa River. The report says the directive to install a light on top of the flag mas is against the tantric vidhi of worship.

Noise pollution can be caused with the launch of the airport. This will affect the pooja customs of the temple. All work on the airport will disturb the serenity of the temple.
