KOCHI: During campaigns for the coming Lok Sabha election, the CPM will not highlight any specific leader, CPM general secretary Prakash Karat has said, perhaps taking a dig at the Congress and BJP whose campaigns have centred around certain leaders.
“In any state, the party doesn’t have the policy of focusing on a single leader during election campaigns. All leaders will together lead the party,” he said at a meet-the-press programme at Ernakulam Press Club.
He said even after the CPM’s plenum, there existed some issues in the party. That would be solved and steps would be taken to end factionalism.
With reference to the Western Ghats conservation, Karat said the party was not averse to Gadgil/Kasturirangan reports in totality but was against its hasty implementation.
He said party’s internal inquiry into T P Chandrasekharan murder case was going on and the information could not be made public until the inquiry was complete. He also reminded that the matter was sub judice.
“Aam Admi Party is not a competitor for the Left as they have done what we had wished to do,” he added.
