KOCHI: Kerala High court asked the police on Friday why Solar scam accused Saritha S Nair’s costly saris were not confiscated. “Money amassed through cheating was used to buy such saris and they should be treated as evidence,” said judge Harun al-Rasheed
Police had reported that money collected by fraud was used to buy saris worth Rs 13 lakh. The court posed this question while it was considering the land-grab case involving the chief minister’s former gunman, Salim Raj.
“Was not Saritha frittering away public money, and is there any need to give under-trials VIP treatment?” the court asked the police.
Meanwhile, the government pleader said he didn’t have any knowledge about facts that were not under the consideration of the court. Harun also clarified that he made remarks on Saritha’s saris as any Indian citizen would have made.
