KOZHIKODE: The C P John faction of the Communist Marxist Party (CMP), a breakaway faction of the CPI (M) in Kerala, will explore possibility of a tie up with Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) ahead of the 2014 general election in the county.
Talking to reporters here CMP faction leader C P John, who was expelled from the party by the rival group led by K R Arvaindakhshan recently, said he would have parleys with RMP leaders, including wife slain leader of that party T P Chandrasekharan here later in the day.
He said the move was aimed at strengthening the Congress-led United Democratic Front, of which CMP is a constituent.
Accusing Aravindakshan of weakening the UDF, he said the former attempted to foray into the CPI (M)-led Opposition Left Democratic Front in the state.
He said Arvindakshan had held talks with CPI (M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and sought major positions in that party to switch sides.
However, the CPI (M) veteran during the meeting held in July last had turned down his overtures by offering ordinary posts in the party, he added.
The CMP, led by ailing M V Raghavan, has split vertically with rival factions holding parallel meeting and expelling leaders on the other side recently.
The faction led by State Planning Board member John met in Thiruvananthapuram and decided to expel five leaders of the rival faction, including its leader Aravindakshan.
At a meeting in Thrissur, Aravindakshan expelled John and his close confident C A Ajeer.
