Attingal youth’s murder: All four accused arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the Attingal murder case relating to the murder of Shabeer (27), a resident of Aattingal Vakkam Mananakku house, all the four accused have been arrested.

Vinayak, a gang member residing near Vaikkam Daivapuram temple, was arrested today morning. The other accused in the case and brothers Santhosh and Satheesh (sons of Prasannan) and their friend Kiran (Kumar’s son) were taken into custody today evening.             

The shocking incident happened on Sunday evening near Vakkam Thoppivilakam Railway gate.  Shabeer’s friend Unnikrishnan (23), who had accompanied him, was also seriously injured in the attack. He was discharged from Medical College hospital yesterday.   

Near Thoppivilakam Railway gate, the gang intercepted Shabeer and Unnikrishnan who were going on a bike. Unnikrishan was beaten and grounded. Shabeer, who tried to flee the spot, was grabbed by the ruffians and beaten using a log of wood pulled out from a wayside shop. As soon as Satheesh battered Shabeer’s head, the latter collapsed and fell to the road. As he lay unconscious on the road, Satheesh’ brother Santhosh tried to break his leg. Then he hold out Shabeer’s leg for his brother, who smashed the legs a number of times.

Both Shabeer and Unnikrishnan, who were lying on the road, were shifted to Medical college hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.     

Shabeer was a commission agent at a whole sale fish shop at Alamkotta. He is the son of Zakeer Hussain and Nazeema. Shemeer and Shajeer are his brothers. Shabeer’s body was handed over to his relatives after post-mortem.

In protest against the murder, the CPM had called for hartal at Vakkam panchayat and it was total. All shops remained close and all vehicles except private vehicles kept off roads.
