Crime branch probe against S P Sukesan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala Friday ordered a crime branch probe in the suspected conspiracy between vigilance SP R Sukesan and hotelier Biju Ramesh in the corruption case against former minister K M Mani and three other ministers. The minister ordered the probe after examining vigilance director ADGP Shankar Reddy’s recommendation.

The recommendation is based on the evidence obtained from the disc submitted in the court by Biju Ramesh. The disc contains the details revealed by Biju Ramesh to other members at the bar association core committee meet held in Ernakulam on December 31 in 2014. Sukesan forced him to say the names of four ministers and had also assured to file a charge sheet, Biju was heard saying. Biju said the officer was friendly while recording statement and that he was known to him when he was a sub inspector.  

When Sukesan asked him whether the statements should be read to him, Biju said no. Sukesan told Biju not to sign below the statement. The association office-bearers who gave statements were made witnesses in the case. Sukesan said that if anyone changes their statement, they would be made accused. The disc showed Sukesan saying that Yamaha Surendran, who changed his statement would be made an accused. Association president Rajkumar Unni would be framed as an accused in a different case.
