KOCHI: The income tax department will also conduct a probe against former minister K Babu, facing a vigilance probe in amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. The IT department will conduct the probe after vigilance completes their investigation.
The probe will be conducted by Kochi unit of the income tax department. They will collect the details of his daughters, son-in-laws and his benamis. The details of his assets are in the hands of the vigilance. If the IT department has to examine the documents, the vigilance should hand it over to them. For that they should wait till the vigilance completes their probe and that is why the income tax department decided to conduct the probe after vigilance completes their inquiry.
In the raid conducted at Babu’s house, the vigilance had confiscated some documents of his land dealings in Tamil Nadu. They got the documents of a plantation of 120 acres.
