Mukkunnimala: Several departments indulged in corruption, says Vigilance director

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance Director Jacob Thomas has alleged that private quarry owners, who had encroached on government land at Mukkunnimala and indulged in illegal quarrying, had the support of officials from Mining, Explosive and Panchayat departments.

“In order to know the intensity of illegal quarrying, the survey will be conducted before September 18, according to the instruction of the court. The report will be submitted within three months,” he said.

Jacob Thomas today made an inspection of quarry areas at Mukkunnimala. He visited four quarries and government-army lands. He said the Vigilance had got evidence of illegal quarrying that was carried out in the area.
