Though allied parties demanded to make clear the stand of the KPCC, his stand was that he would give an explanation after the political affairs committee on September 24.

Former chief minister Oommen Chandy said the vigilance act was part of a political vendetta. All A Group leaders supported Babu. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said let the probe continue in the case. the Revengeful act will not be permitted, he said. M M Hassan said Babu should be protected politically. KPCC vice-president V D Satheesan wanted the party to discuss the issue as the people’s sentiments are against corruption.

UDF convenor P P Thankachan later told reporters that action against Babu is part of the political vendetta against him. "The present government is trying to blemish the image of the previous government. We are not against an impartial probe. However, if there is any attempt to take revenge, it  will be dealt with politically," he said.
