Closure of bars: Cash offered to political parties, says Chakku Radhakrishnan

PALAKKAD: The bar owners had decided to offer cash to all political parties over the closure of bar issue, said controversial industrialist and bar owners association vice president Chakku Radhakrishnan alias V M Radhakrishnan.

Chakku revealed it in his statement to a vigilance team led by DySP B Krishna Kumar probing the bar case.  Though he tried to offer money to the CPI (M), they refused to accept it and chased them away from the AKG Centre.

The bar owners had given money to the organisation’s fund for parties to avoid the closure of bars. I gave Rs 7 lakhs to the bar association. He also produced the document showing the withdrawal of the money.

Meantime, he said that he doesn’t know in which way the cash was spent. Bar association working president Biju Ramesh had not given any evidence to prove the allegations leveled. He only produced the edited dialogues which is not at all strong.  

The vigilance spent nearly an hour in taking statement from Radhakrishnan. The vigilance team probing the bar case will take statementsfrom 25 bar owners.
