Tussle in Assembly: Police start recording statements

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala police have started recording statements in connection with the ugly scenes that took place in Assembly on Friday. 

Information will be first collected from Assembly officials  those who were present in the gallery and Watch and Ward staff. The recording of MLAs’ statements will follow next, Cantonment Assistant Commissioner V Suresh Kumar has said.

The police will examine the video footages collected from the Assembly. Statements of all MLAs including  the chief minister will be recorded. The city police commissioner clarified that MLAs will also have to be made witnesses in the case.

The police had registered case based on a complaint filed by Assembly Secretary P D Sharangadharan that Speaker’s dais and chairs worth Rs 5 lakhs was destroyed by a few MLAs.
