RSP clamours for Aruvikkara Seat , Deputy Speaker post

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The RSP has asked for the Aruvikkara Assembly seat in the upcoming by-election, after it fell vacant following the demise of Speaker G Karthikeyan. “Together with this, the party will also demand Deputy Speaker’s post, which is now vacant,” said RSP State Secretary A A Azeez and minister Shibu Baby John.

After the State Secretariat meeting on Tuesday, the leaders said, “ we know Congress would find it difficult for parting with their sitting seat but the matter will be discussed with the Congress and UDF. The party has engaged N K Premachandran MP, A A Azeez and Shibu Baby John to discuss seat-related issues”.

“Everybody knows that the government hinges on RSP. The party which has got three MLAs has not got the consideration it deserves, a reason why the party went ahead and demanded Deputy Speaker’s post,” Azeez said.

When asked whether the party will accept board corporation posts instead of the Deputy Speaker’s post, Azeed said his party would not backtrack from their demands. He also added that RSP is, however,  not a party which would migrate to another front for positions.
