THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police Sunday registered a case against Horticorp chairman Lal Varghese Kalpakavadi for sexual harassment and cheating. The case was registered following a woman’s complaint that Kalpakavadi tried to sexually harass her and cheated her of Rs 5 lakhs in the name of a job offer.
The woman, a district office bearer of Karshaka Congres, lodged a complaint at the Vanchiyoor Police. A case has been registered against district president K S Anil.
The woman in her complaint says that many Karshaka Congress activists were offered jobs when Kalpakavadi, Karshaka Congress state president, was elevated as Horticorp chairman. The woman said that she handed over an amount of Rs
5 lakhs to Anil at his flat in Vanchiyoor. When I went to his flat later with my bio-data, the two-Anil and Kalpakavadi tried to sexually harass her.
Even after two years of handing over the money, the job was not given. They have cheated many people in the same way. The woman said that she never used to go for Karshaka Congress meeting after the incident.
Meantime, Kalpakavadi said such an incident has never taken place.
