VS justifies noisy protest in Assembly

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan has said what the LDF had opposed in the Assembly was the presentation of the budget by “corrupt” Finance minister K M Mani. “If any  minister other than Mani had presented the budget, the Opposition would not have opposed it. For each budget Mani is taking crores of rupees as commission. The main reason for the showdown in Assembly was Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s insistence on Mani presenting the budget,” VS claimed.

Meanwhile, CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Monday that the fight against corruption would continue irrespective of the number of MLAs suspended. “Even if they force police to charge cases against MLAs and however many days they would have to stay in jail, they will not end the fight against corruption. The agitation will continue till Mani resigns,” Kodiyeri said, adding “the assembly session was not held on March 13, the budget was also not actually presented”.
