MUMBAI: The bodies of famous artist Hema Hirani Upadhyay and her lawyer were found packed in cardboard boxes in a drain in Mumbai’s Kandivali suburb on Saturday.
According to reports, the bodies were cut into pieces and then stuffed in cardboard boxes, which were then wrapped in plastic sheets.
The police managed to identify the bodies on Sunday and confirmed that the bodies belonged to the Baroda born artist and her lawyer Harsh Bhambani.
Harsh Bhambani had represented Hema in a harassment case she had filed against her husband, Chintan Upadhyay, who is also an artist.
In her complaint, which was filed in 2013, Hema had alleged that her husband painted obscene sketches of her on the walls of her room.
A case had been registered and investigations are on in the gruesome murders. The police have detained three people for questioning in the case.
