THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: World-renowned gazal singer Gulam Ali has decided to sing in Kerala, despite Shiva Sena protests coming in the way of his performance in Mumbai and New Delhi recently. The programme has been slated for January.
The concert will take place in the gazal evening to be organised by Swaralaya in Thiruvananthapuram on January 15 and in Kozhikode on January 17. Swaralaya representative and CPM politburo member M A Baby has informed that Gulam Ali has consented his participation in the gazal programme. Baby also said that the event would be an atonement for the cancellation of his concerts in Mumbai and Delhi.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena has said that it will not allow the singer to perform in Kerala as it will have to take the stand taken by its national leadership elsewhere in the country.
Shiv Sena had prevented Gulam Ali’s performance in Mumbai, saying that a Pakistani’s music concert need not happen in India. Following this, the singer himself withdrew from his subsequent concert in New Delhi.
