LDF to start campaign meetings against Central-State governments

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Left meeting here today decided to start campaign meetings against Central-State governments, highlighting issues such as corruption, communalism, bad governance and price rise.

LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan said at a press conference here that general meeting would be held at constituency-level. The public meeting to be held in the State capital on December 22 would be inaugurated by Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan.
Kanam Rajendran, Mathew T Thomas, Uzhavoor Vijayan, Kadannapally Ramachandran and V Surendran Pillai will take part in the meeting. The LDF will rally rubber farmers in front of its agitation organised against fall in rubber prices.

Viswom blamed State-Central governments for fall in rubber price, which had dropped to Rs 90 from Rs 248. “The State government has not tried to obstruct the Centre’s import policy. The government has also not come forward to prevent the Centre’ majority communalism. Also, in Kerala for anything and everything one has to pay bribe,” he said.

He added that the Chandy government had not done anything to control price rise or disburse welfare pensions while it had incurred a debt of Rs 159000 crore during its tenure.
