Modi seeks Guru’s blessing to work for the poor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after attending the prayer session at Sivagiri Maha Samadhi (memorial) on Tuesday, said during his short speech that he had prayed for Guru’s blessings to work for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden. He said he was happy to visit Sivagiri, sanctified by Sree Narayana Guru’s name and get the blessings of sanyasis there.

“Guru had worked against casteism and untouchability. He practiced Sree Sankaracharya’s ‘Advaita’ principle in his life. He worked for a social set up based on the ideology that you and I are one and not two,” Modi said.

The prime minister also added that he was lucky to have the honour of Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust President Prakashananda visiting his Delhi residence and blessing him.
