KOCHI: Excise Minister K Babu said on Tuesday that Rs 10 core was handed over to the proposed Cancer Institute at Kalamassery. He was speaking after inaugurating the construction works of Cardiology department of Ernakulam General Hospital.
“I have seen certain centres expressing concern over the founding of the Cancer Institute. There need not be any doubt about it. The construction works are progressing. Once the building is complete, OP department will be started. Orders have been placed for medical lab equipment. The UDF government had given emphasis to health sector. More than 5000 posts were created in it. No other government has created so many posts in the health department. Rs 2 crore from Ludy Luiz MLA’s assets development fund was used to complete the project,” he said.
The minister also inaugurated the new lift installed at the casualty block.
