Jayasurya encroached puramboke land near lake, says Kochi corporation

KOCHI: Kochi Corporation Secretary has submitted to Vigilance court a report that affirms the allegation that actor Jayasurya had encroached puramboke land near Chilavannur Lake. In the report, it is said that about three cents of land were encroached by the actor.

The Corporation informed the court that it had given instructions to demolish the construction on the disputed land. Following this, the case was transferred to Moovattupuzha Vigilance Court. The case will be considered again on February 22.

In a complaint social activist Girish Babu of Kalamassery had alleged that Jayasurya constructed a boat jetty and compound wall near his house at Kadavanthra by encroaching the puramboke land near Chilavannur lake.

In the complaint he had urged the police to make Kalamassery native and former Corporation secretary V R Raju, former Assistant Executive Engineer N M Geroge, current Assistant Executive Engineer A Nisar, Kanayannur Taluk head surveyor Rajeev Joseph and actor Jayasurya as accused from one to five respectively

The complaint said that Jayasurya had built the house, flouting coastal zone regulation norms and municipal building rules.
Corporation building inspector had also given a report affirming the complaint. The corporation had also ordered demolition of the unauthorised building. But as no action followed, the complainant approached the Vigilance court. Later Revenue department measured the land according to the direction of the Vigilance court.
