Even during the period of economic recession in Europe, there was no decline in the inflow of foreign tourists.

J S Jayalal, E Chandrasekharan, V Sasi and P Thilothaman informed that the Tourism department had devised several business tricks to counter the economic crisis.

Minister V S Sivakumar said Thomas Unniyadan had informed him that the treatment cost in Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology was being hiked from time to time, taking into account the growing expenses in the health industry. In a reply to C F Thomas, Monce Joseph and T U Kuruvila, he said the Institute had taken steps to ensure that the increase in the medical cost by 16 percent didn’t affect financially backward patients. As the current subsidy continued, the present hike in the cost didn’t affect the commoners.
