P Jayarajan surrenders in court, remanded till March 11

KANNUR: CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan, accused in the Kathiroor Manoj murder case, surrendered at the Thalassery sessions court on Friday. The court remanded him till March 11 and sent him to Kannur Central Jail. Though the CBI filed a plea seeking his custody, the court said that it could be considered later.

The high court had yesterday rejected his anticipatory bail plea. Jayarajan, who was undergoing treatment at the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital, surrendered after reaching the court in an ambulance.

The case against me is the conspiracy of the RSS, he alleged. Talking to reporters here, he said UAPA was invoked against me following the intervention of the chief minister. I will face the case legally and politically. The case against me is part of a move to trap the party leaders in fake cases, he said.
