Shukkoor murder case: Court orders further probe against P Jayarajan and T V Rajesh

KOCHI:  The Kerala High Court Monday ordered a CBI further probe against CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan and T V Rajesh MLA in the murder of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) worker Abdul Shukkoor. Justice B Kemal Pasha passed the order after government conveyed the situation that a right probe could not be conducted following strong protests of the political party including P Jayarajan.

Implementation of justice would be affected if permitted administration of self-proclaimed rulers. The court cannot permit it. The complaint of Shukkoor’s mother cannot be ignored. Though conspiracy was charged against other accused in the case, Jayarajan and Rajesh were exempted. It is clear that this was following the opposition of a political party. The court cannot ignore the tears of Shukkoor’s mother.

The case is that League activist Shukkoor was hacked to death in retaliation for attacking the car carrying Jayarajan and T V Rajesh. Though the two admitted at the Thaliparambu Cooperative Hospital knew the attack towards Shukkoor, they did not prevent it.
