Sree Narayana Museum at Sivagiri: Rs Three cr announced

HIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In order to recreate unforgettable moments in the life of Sree Narayana Guru, Sree  Narayana Museum will be established at Sivagiri. In Friday’s budget speech, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said Rs Three Crore has been set part for the purpose.

He said the museum will be built linking Vanajakshi mandiram where Gurudev and Mahatma Gandhi first met, Muthaliyar sathram where Guru was on deathbed, Kattuvilakam where Mahatma rested when he visited for the first time.

Rs 10 lakh has been declared in the budget for library and research in Chempazhanthi Sree Narayana International Study Centre.
The memorandum seeking establishment of museum was submitted to the government on last Chandayam day by Sivagiri mutt office-bearers. Ministers K C Joseph, K Babu and others had visited mutt and held talks with mutt officials. After this, the archaeological department visited the place and examined the possibility for renovating the buildings in dilapidated condition.
