TP Srinivasan, Siddique Congress candidates?

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former diplomat and Higher Secondary Education vice-president T P Sreenivasan, who was assaulted by CPM activists at the venue of Global Education meet recently, and actor Siddique are among the names suggested by Congress as their candidates for the upcoming Assembly election, it is hinted.

TP Sreenivasan may be fielded from Nemom constituency and Siddique from Alappuzha Aroor constituency. However, these reports have not been confirmed by Congress leaders, who say since the phase of finalisation of candidates has not reached, nothing can be said about the probable candidates.

The Nemon constituency was given to UDF ally JD (U) last time. But this time, JD (U) is known to have asked for some other constituencies like Vamanapuram. In that case, Congress will take over Nemom and field candidates like Sreenivasan.

The attack on Sreenivasan by CPM activists had attracted international attention. Even CPM leaders had talked against it. It is said that Congress will try to reap political mileage out of this incident by fielding Sreenivasan.

Meanwhile, Congress loyalist Siddique’ s name is doing the rounds in political circles, when there are rumours that actors Srinivasan and Mukesh will be contesting the election as LDF candidate; Srinivasan has denied this report though.
