ALAPPUZHA: Job scam accused and resident of Thrikkunnappuzha Panoor Kurathara house Sharanya (25) has given a shocking statement in the court today that she had been sexually abused six times by an SI from Alappuzha district.
Appearing in a Harippad court, she said she had received favour from officials from police headquarters, home ministers’ camp office and PSC office.
As allegations were raised against certain police officials involved in the cases against Sharnya, DGP Sen Kumar ordered handing over of the case to the Crime branch, heeding to the directions of Alappuzha Police Chief.
In her secret statement before Magistrate, Sharanya said she was sexually abused by an SI, who had got acquainted with her in Alappuzha. She alleged that several persons in the home department including the SI had done her favours and taken money as quid pro quo. A staff in Home minister’s Harippad camp office rendered her all the help to run the fraud job recruitment business. Even he had allegedly handed over ministry’s seals to her. A Youth Congress leader of Alappuzha district is also said to have helped her using his political influence, which in turn had inspired her to commit the fraud.
However, police officers investigating the case said that Home ministry seals were never used in the files used by Sharanya and that she was telling lies.
Meanwhile, Sharanya keeping mum for days after her arrest and giving such statements after a Left-leader, who is also an advocate, met her in the jail, has thrown up several doubts about her statement. Police believe that Sharnaya might have given false statements at the behest of that advocate.
