DCC chief denies allegations

KALPETTA: Wayanad District Congress Committee president K L Poulose has denied the allegations raised by the family of P V John, the UDF candidate who had committed suicide inside the party office after he lost the recent civic body election, before a subcommittee of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC ). The family had complained before the committee that Poulose had abused John over phone after his defeat and this had led John to take the extreme step.

Speaking to media persons here, Poulose said that he had never contacted John after the election and all the allegations against him were fabricated to destroy his political career. “John had mentioned names of three people who were responsible for his death in his suicide note. My name did not figure in it,” Poulose said.

The recent revelations of the family after the leader of the opposition V S Achuthanandan paid them a visit were a part of conspiracy to tarnish his image and destroy the Congress. He himself had raised the issue before the KPCC and he had also demanded for a high-level inquiry into the death of John, Poulose said.
