THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a disproportionate assets case, the Vigilance has submitted a report to the government against former Public Works secretary, T O Sooraj. The Vigilance’ finding is that Sooraj has illegal assets worth Rs 11 crore. The department has also asked government permission for putting Sooraj on trial.
The report says in the 10-yr timespan between 2004 and 2014, Sooraj had amassed so much wealth that was three times more than Sooraj’s annual income. His possessions include flats in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Kochi and Idukki; Villa in Kochi; lands worth crores of rupees and Godown.
Following his involvement in the case, Sooraj was suspended from service in November last year.
There was also allegation that Sooraj was linked to Kalamassery land grab case. However in that case the CBI felt then that it would suffice to make him a witness in the case.
