KAZHAKKOOTTAM: The body of the woman, who allegedly jumped off the Muthalapozhi Bridge into the sea along with her son, has been recovered. The body recovered has been identified as that of Sumi (28) of Anchuthengu. Her body was recovered from Valiyathura.
She jumped off the bridge holding her three-and-a-half-year-old son Dawn around 3.30 pm yesterday. Though the child was taken out of the water by the fishermen and the local people and taken to the hospital, his life could not be saved.
Sumi was a dance teacher at a school in Poonthura. Her husband Pradeep is in the Gulf. She was staying with her mother-in-law at Mampally. She left home telling her in-laws that she was taking her son, who was not well, to the hospital. The police said she may have taken the extreme step due to family problems.
