THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A school student was killed at Pettah on Tuesday after he was run over by a Tipper lorry. The accident happened at Pettah bridge when the victim was travelling along with his mother Beena, a native of Aryanadu Pallivetta. The dead has been identified as Martin Rahul Raj (11).
Beena with severe injuries has been admitted to Medical College hospital. The incident happened at around 8pm.
Beena along with her son was returning from her sister's house at Anayara when the tipper lorry hit at the backside of their vehicle throwing the boy off to the road and in the next moment he was run over by the lorry.
The locals blocked the road alleging that the police were not ready to shift the victims immediately to hospital. The situation became tense when Pettah SI tried to remove the vehicle from the scene before taking the victims to hospital.
