ATINGAL: A private bus fell off a bridge at Attingal and plunged into the river below, killing a 14-year-old girl and injuring many others on Friday. There were 21 passengers inside the bus at the time of the mishap.
The bus named Aiswarya was heading towards Attingal from Mangalapuram when the mishap occurred at Mamam bridge.
The police said the driver had lost control of the bus which rammed the side wall of the bridge and fell upside down into the river below.
Police and Fireforce personnel are carrying out the rescue work. 12 out of the injured passengers have been shifted to Medical College hospital. According sources, overspeed of the bus had caused the tragedy.
