KOZHIKODE: The government Friday offered assistance to the next of kin of an auto driver, who died of asphyxiation, along with two others from Andhra Pradesh, in a manhole district yesterday.
Talking to newspersons here, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy after visiting the house of auto driver, P Noushad, said his wife would be provided with a suitable government job as per her educational qualification.
Candy said the government is duty-bound to extend financial assistance to wife and mother of Noushad, who became the pride of the state by sacrificing his life for others.
The government will also bear expenses for the transportation of bodies of Bhaskar and Narasimha, who were asphyxiated in the sewer near Jaya Auditorium yesterday.
Contract labourers Bhaskar and Narasimham, who entered the sewer for cleaning, died after inhaling poisonous gas.
Noushad, who reached the spot after hearing screams from others also met the same fate, while attempting to rescue them.
