Hartal Regulation Bill in coming Assembly session, says Chennithala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The bill controlling hartals will be presented in the coming assembly session, said Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. The bill will be passed in this session itself, he said while addressing the media.

Chennithala said there is a situation where even small political parties announce hartals and this could not be permitted. Several directions were obtained in connection with the forming of the bill. A final shape has been given after compiling all that.

Legal trade union strikes are not hartals. Peaceful demonstrations will not be regulated. Legal authority will not be limited in any way, the minister said.

Chances will be given to public to give their opinions. Along with that, a bill to get rid of superstitions and black magic is under the consideration of the home department, he said.
