THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The woman pilot who was killed in the helicopter crash in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday has been identified as Sumitha Vijayan, hailing from Avanavancherry near Kadakkavur in Thiruvananthapuram.
A retired Air Force officer, Sumita, 44, was one of the seven persons who died in the crash. The copter operated by the Himalayan Heli Services was on its way to Jammu with pilgrims from Vaishno Devi. Sumitha is the daughter of N Vijayan, who is currently in Hyderabad. Sumitha is unmarried. Her relatives said that Sumitha had taken VRS from the Air Force more than 10 years ago. She had joined the Himalayan Heli Services later.
